Yes, we're back at the Family & Naval over on K'rd this Sunday 28th March, come along for an afternoon of entertainment starting at 4pm.  Our 5th member, Rob, has promised to put in an appearance and I'll be bringing my headless guitar synth along so it will be an exciting gig!

14th January next year we make our first appearance at the Mount Maunganui festival - it should be a cracker.  12,000 people attended last year so hopefully we'll get more people there this time!  If you want tickets they're selling out fast so get yours now!

4.10pm to 5.15pm; The Midnight Blues Band (Auckland), is our slot, come and say hi afterwards, just look in one of the beer tents ;)

Mission Bay

We’re not your average blues band and we don’t aim to be. We’re loud, we’re raunchy and we don’t take ourselves seriously, although we do take our music seriously – don’t ask for SRV covers, we play what we like, not what we ought to.

Our set is very diverse, drawing on the more British style of blues but with a nod back to Mr Johnson. We have everything from Freddie King, T-Bone Walker, Hendrix, Rory Gallagher and even a bit of Gary Moore.

We play blues but we rock out when we want to, too many bands follow the formula and their songs are timed to the last second, we don’t do ‘paint by numbers’ blues, neither are we blues snobs. Expect to dance! Cos BG will be on the dance floor with you more than likely!

All the band members have a bit of experience behind them in lots of other bands, but no-one would admit to their age.

Band:

BG – sings and plays the guitar, an ex-pom from northern England, but he’s been here long enough to sound like a posh Geordie now. His gravel voice has been compared favourably to a cement mixer – kept in top shape by a 40 a day habit and a fond liking for beer.

Dave Cheetham – Kiwi born and bred, guitarist, shouts the odd backing vocal but I give him a mic just in case. Watch out for his tasty licks and rhythm playing, and he’s been known to build a house or two on the side.

George Komene – Bass, solid as a rock, if 3 people in the band are out of step, he’ll be the one who’s on the beat. He is the foundation of the rhythm section.

Rex McCleod– Kiwi drumming legend, no introduction should be necessary except to say he graced the cover of NZ Drummer magazine, and Ian Paice was relegated to the inside...
